Bailey

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Adult · 5 years

Meet Bailey! This little lady is a typical Jack Russell with a big personality packed into a small body. Full of energy and enthusiasm, she thrives on playtime and absolutely loves her toys – whether its a game of fetch or entertaining herself, she is always ready for fun. She can be quite vocal when playing, adding to her charm and character. She is an active dog who will need a home that can match her energy levels and provide plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. On the lead she is strong for her size and does tend to pull, so ongoing training and consistency will be important to help her improve her walking manners. She would be best suited to a home as the only dog. While she can enjoy her own company with her humans, she is not comfortable sharing her space with other dogs and prefers to have her environment to herself. The new adopter would need to take this into account when out walking her. Handling-wise she is not keen on having her paws touched, so her new owners will need to be patient and understanding, working with her at her pace to build trust and confidence. This bright, spirited girl is looking for a committed home that understands the needs of the breed and is willing to continue her training and provide her with the structure she needs to thrive. We think she will make a fun, loyal and entertaining companion. As Bailey came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a small adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
