adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Marvel has found his home! His story: Dream Dog Marvel sits sadly behind bars… He doesn't understand how he ended up in the shelter and that his life is now lonely and dreary… If Marvel gets a second chance, he will be transformed. Then he will show his widest grin 🙂 Marvel is a beautiful young and agile male dog – at around 2.5 years old, he's still at the beginning of his dog life. Marvel was rescued together with his brother Chico from the public shelter, where unfortunately animals are still being killed. Chico was lucky and can still travel in May. The wonderful Marvel will then be left alone. We hope very much that he will also be allowed to leave soon. Marvel and Chico have developed into open and friendly dogs – real model boys. They can't wait to go to the adoption in Zalau with our helpers. Marvel easily wears his harness and walks attentively on the leash. Perhaps there was a person or a family in the past – but that is mere speculation. Unfortunately, the two only get to go to the adoption about 2 times a month, as there are simply too many dogs and the time is often too short. Marvel is not only beautiful, he is also an athletic, sporting dog, who needs a lot of exercise. Looking at Marvel, he might be a Husky mix or a mix of another northern breed. Northern dog breeds are known to be friendly, active, independent, and intelligent. They are energetic, require mental stimulation, and close physical contact with their humans – but also a good portion of training, consistency, and patience. If you not only admire Marvel visually but also want to mentally challenge and support him, you will have made a real lucky find. Active walks, sniffing games, search tasks, puzzle games, or even obedience training could be great options for him later. Also, the new family should be aware that Marvel has not yet experienced life in a loving family. He still needs to learn the whole dog ABC, but he will surely have fun with it. Marvel gets along well with other dogs. How he reacts to cats, we currently don't know. Would you give our grinning Marvel the chance at a new life full of love, empathy, security, and structure? His bags are packed. Marvel brings his EU pet passport, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial! Thank you Nils M. for giving Marvel this beautiful name and thus an identity. Many thanks Sandra B.! You support Marvel with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 01.07.

Vielen Dank Sandra B.! Du unterstützt Marvel mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 01.07.2025

About Marvel

What life with Marvel looks like

Marvel is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marvel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marvel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marvel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marvel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marvel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marvel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marvel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
