Marvin

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Marvin is a neutered mixed-breed male dog born in July 2025, who was found as a puppy with his seven siblings Morris, Milton, Mandy, Marie, Margo, Martha, and Mirna on a garbage dump. Fortunately, the siblings were rescued and taken in by the Svilos animal shelter in Serbia. Marvin is now waiting to be discovered by a loving family who wants to give him a caring forever home. Marvin is an exceptionally friendly and people-oriented dog who enjoys the company of his caregivers. He enjoys attention and affection, is very affectionate, and especially likes to be petted. He sometimes shows a bit of submissiveness. The young dog's behavior reminds of a Labrador: he is a playful, cheerful, young dog who likes to be in motion and discover the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. He especially enjoys playing with balls, which he chases with great enthusiasm. Marvin gets along well with other dogs. He has not yet met cats, so it is not known how he will react to them. We wish Marvin a loving family who enjoys a lively and affectionate dog and shows him the world with patience, affection, and loving upbringing. Marvins shoulder height is 57 cm and he weighs about 25 kg.

About Marvin

What life with Marvin looks like

Marvin is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Marvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
