Mats & Zorro – – – Mats & Zorro ❤ Two little "wobbly cats" who, thanks to the care of our volunteers, have not given up hope of one day moving into their own home, just like our other charges. Unfortunately, their brother Fritz did not have this luck. His condition was already too poor when the three arrived, and his body could no longer cope with the challenges. 💔 Through Fritz's autopsy, we now know that the neurological abnormalities (ataxia) of the siblings are due to cerebellar hypoplasia – a malformation of the cerebellum that occurs in the womb if the mother cat is infected with the parvovirus during pregnancy. Luckily, Mats (black and white) and Zorro (gray and white) are doing well, and we look hopefully towards the future – and a home of their own 🌟 The two young brothers are quite normal and yet something very special: they love to play and cuddle, get along wonderfully with the other cats at the foster home, and Mats' best friend is the dog Krümel, whom he adores. Both enjoy life to the fullest, and especially Mats is hard to stop once he has set his mind on something. However, it is important to know that Mats and Zorro are impaired. Their ataxia only slightly limits them in everyday life, but future owners should be aware of this particularity. For example, small stairs or ramps to reach the sofa or bed can be helpful. Physiotherapy can also support them in the long term. Additionally, both have teeth that are not normally aligned. Zorro has already had an appointment including X-rays, and a follow-up examination in a year was recommended. Mats' appointment is still pending. Mats and Zorro can be visited at their foster home in Gedern (63688)!

Mats & Zorro – – – Mats & Zorro ❤Zwei kleine „Wackelkatzen“, die – dank der Fürsorge unserer Ehrenamtlichen – die Hoffnung nicht aufgeben, irgendwann wie unsere anderen Schützlinge in ihr eigenes Zuhause ziehen zu dürfen.Ihr Bruder Fritz hatte dieses Glück leider nicht. Sein Zustand war schon zu schlecht, als die drei zu uns kamen, und sein Körper konnte die Herausforderungen nicht mehr bewältigen. 💔Durch die Obduktion von Fritz wissen wir nun, dass die neurologischen Auffälligkeiten (Ataxie) der Geschwister auf eine Zerebellare Hypoplasie zurückzuführen sind – eine Fehlbildung des Kleinhirns, die bereits im Mutterleib entsteht, wenn die Mutterkatze während der Trächtigkeit mit dem Parvovirus infiziert ist.Mats (schwarz-weiß) und Zorro (grau-weiß) geht es zum Glück gut, und wir blicken hoffnungsvoll in Richtung Zukunft – und eigenes Zuhause 🌟Die beiden jungen Brüder sind ziemlich normal und doch etwas ganz Besonderes: Sie spielen und kuscheln für ihr Leben gern, verstehen sich wunderbar mit den anderen Katzen auf der Pflegestelle und Mats’ bester Freund ist Hund Krümel, den er heiß und innig liebt. Beide genießen ihr Leben in vollen Zügen, und besonders Mats lässt sich kaum aufhalten, wenn er sich etwas in den Kopf gesetzt hat.Dennoch ist wichtig zu wissen, dass Mats und Zorro beeinträchtigt sind. Ihre Ataxie schränkt sie im Alltag zwar nur geringfügig ein, dennoch sollten zukünftige Besitzer sich dieser Besonderheit bewusst sein. Hilfreich sind zum Beispiel kleine Treppen oder Rampen, um Sofa oder Bett zu erreichen. Auch Physiotherapie kann sie langfristig unterstützen.Zusätzlich sind bei beiden die Zähne nicht normtypisch angelegt. Zorro hatte hierzu bereits einen Termin inklusive Röntgen, bei dem eine Kontrolluntersuchung in einem Jahr empfohlen wurde.
