adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Mats has found his luck! His story: Our dream dog Mats is desperate at the shelter! The young Mats is a sweet, friendly puppy who has already accomplished a lot despite his short life. He came to us with entropium (inward rolling of the eyelid), but was successfully operated on. The surgery went well, so he can now start his new life without worries. He meets people openly and affectionately and enjoys every form of attention and affection. He also shows great social behavior towards fellow animals. Currently, Mats lives with his two sisters at the shelter and waits to finally arrive at his own people's home. Visually, Mats is bewitched with his light brown fur and his cute floppy ears. His build and friendly face suggest that a Labrador-mixed breed might be in him – of course, that can't be said for sure. With his current size of about 40 cm and a weight of 10 kg, he is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog. As a young puppy, Mats probably hasn't experienced life in a real home yet. Things like house training, leash manners, and basic commands are something he still needs to learn. With patience, loving consistency, and perhaps with the help of a positively working dog training class, he will surely master these tasks quickly. Mats is looking for people who enjoy accompanying a young puppy on his journey, giving him security, and discovering the world together. A home full of love, security, and shared adventures – that is his greatest wish. Is Mats your new best friend? He travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Due to his young age, he is not yet neutered, but of course brings his EU pet passport with him for travel arrangements. An even foster home would be a wonderful first step in a happy dog life for him. Many thanks to Andrea – you gave Mats his name and thus enabled his first step into a new life. As of: 15.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 15.03.2026

About Mats

What life with Mats looks like

Mats is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mats, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mats?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mats on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mats if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mats already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mats isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mats and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
