Matz

Male · Young · 1 year

Little Matz was rescued by Isabelleke and taken home with her. He was thin and undernourished, anxious and insecure. A young life that barely knew what love and security meant. He could no longer go on and had been completely left to his fate. Matz is a beautiful little dog, presumably a Perro de Agua mix. But behind that lovely little face is still a frightened dog who doesn't entirely trust the world. He needs a owner who will let him discover, calmly, that life can also be beautiful. Someone who won't force anything on him, who gives him time and attention and shows him, step by step, that everything will be alright. Matz is still young and sociable with other dogs. He is curious and follows with interest what goes on around him. So there is still an enormous amount of potential in this sweet fellow, but he is not a ready-made dog. He needs patience, guidance and understanding, someone willing to work on his trust together with him. Whoever gives him that chance will see a beautiful dog blossom bit by bit, and will ultimately gain the very best friend you could wish for. Where is that special owner who will let our little Matz feel that he never has to be scared or alone again?

NL·Show original

About Matz

What life with Matz looks like

Matz is a small young adult dog waiting at ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) in Spain.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Matz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Matz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
