Maurice

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Name: Maurice Gender: Male Health: vaccinated, medically attended to and on the path to full recovery Maurice has never stopped believing in the good despite his tough past. He was rescued from WEACT by WEACT from terrible conditions where he had to live in a cramped space on a chain. Today, Maurice shows us every day how much joy, love, and strength he has inside. At first, he is a bit cautious around strangers, but that doesn't last long. Once Maurice realizes that you mean him well, he shows his incredibly cuddly and loving side. He loves cuddles more than anything and enjoys every bit of attention. The closeness to his people gives him security and lets him truly flourish. Maurice is also a very social dog who gets along well with other dogs. He loves to play, run, and have fun together – especially with dogs who are just as active and playful as he is. Only in aggressive encounters does he clearly set boundaries, which is why a calm and attentive leadership is important. The handsome male dog has a lot of energy and wishes for an active home where regular walks, playtimes, and shared adventures are a given. With enough mental stimulation, he shows himself to be balanced and content at home. Health-wise, Maurice has already overcome a lot: After his rescue, he was successfully treated for heartworms and also underwent knee surgery. The operation went very well and Maurice is making great progress in his recovery. For Maurice, we wish people with hearts, patience, and joy in an active dog life. A home with a garden would be wonderful, but is not a must. What is most important is a family that gives him love, attention, and shared time. Maurice is a true ray of sunshine – playful, clingy, and full of life. Whoever gives him a home gets a loyal friend for life. 💛🐶 Images & Videos of Maurice:

About Maurice

What life with Maurice looks like

Maurice is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maurice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maurice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maurice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maurice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maurice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maurice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maurice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
