Mäuserich

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Hello, I’m the handsome little mouse-cat! Oh man, I’ve already been through so much in my young life, let me tell you! As soon as I arrived at the animal shelter as a found cat, my caregivers immediately noticed that something was wrong with my gait. So they took me to the vet, where it was diagnosed that I have a patellar luxation in my right hind leg. That means my kneecap has slipped out of place, causing severe pain when I walk. Unfortunately, things weren’t that simple for me... which is why it took no fewer than two surgeries on my leg before everything finally turned out just right. My caretakers say I was incredibly brave during my recovery period. Even though I still find humans pretty scary, I let myself be touched and treated without much resistance. It was almost as if I realized that you bipeds only want to help me. After several months of rest in my crate, I was finally allowed to move into the cat house—yay! Walking without pain for the first time ever—it was amazing! Now I’m finally ready to move into a forever home! Since I come from “outside,” I’d really love to have outdoor access in a more rural setting. I’d certainly make a great farm cat and an awesome mouse catcher, even though I’m still shy and suspicious around people. Of course, I could also join a “normal” household—as long as you’re aware that I’ll need plenty of time and patience to build trust with you humans. Maybe someday I’ll realize that you bipeds are actually quite nice—but maybe I’ll stay shy all my life. So I’m kind of a little surprise package—and if that’s okay with you, then I’m just the right cat for you! Do you already have cats living in your home? No problem—I get along very well with the other cats here at the cat house. So as a second cat, I’d be a perfect match. If you think I’d fit well into your life, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my foster carers at the animal shelter! Until then, I’ll keep waiting here. Your little mouse-cat

About Mäuserich

What life with Mäuserich looks like

Mäuserich is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mäuserich, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mäuserich?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mäuserich on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mäuserich if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mäuserich already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mäuserich isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mäuserich and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
