Mavie

Mixed Breed · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Sometimes there are these dogs you just can’t get out of your head. That’s how it was with Mavie. A member of our team was at the local animal shelter in Vaslui when she was discovered: Mavie was wagging her tail on a small hut – in a tiny run. While her runmate was well-nourished, she was very thin. It seemed that the male dog had the run of the kennel, so Mavie apparently spent most of her day on the hut – carefully, quietly, and with that delicate look that just wanted a little attention. She immediately captured our hearts. And she wouldn’t leave us alone. Fortunately, a loving foster parent found her and made it possible to take Mavie out of the animal shelter. She also gave her a wonderful name: Mavie, inspired by the French “Ma Vie,” which means “my life” in English. And somehow, this name fits her perfectly. Since her arrival, she has shown us every day what a wonderful dog lies within her. Mavie is a true ray of sunshine – proud, open, and full of joy. One of our animal rescuers described her so aptly: “A comedy and the life itself. So proud and good.” And that’s exactly how she is: lively, charming, and simply special. Visually, Mavie is also a real standout: a beautiful beige-black female dog with a very special presence. But her character is even more beautiful. She meets people openly and curiously and enjoys every bit of affection she gets. She gets along well with other dogs and is social. She has already met cats. Now, Mavie just needs one thing: her own home. People who show her what a dog’s life can be like with security, love, and shared adventures. Whoever gives this proud, cheerful female dog a home will definitely receive a loyal companion and a little piece of joy every day. Please note:

Eine unserer Tierschützerinnen beschrieb sie so treffend:„A comedy and the life itself. About Mavie

What life with Mavie looks like

Mavie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mavie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mavie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mavie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mavie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mavie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mavie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mavie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
