I’m Mavis, a 2-year-old Cane Corso x German Shepherd, and I’m looking for a special family to call my own. I’ll be honest, I can be quite nervous when meeting new people. It takes me a little while to feel safe and comfortable, but if you come armed with tasty treats, you’ll soon start to win me over! Once I’ve built trust and know that you’re a friend, my true personality shines through. When I’m comfortable, I’m incredibly affectionate and loving. I adore cuddles with my favourite people and will happily spend time by your side. I’m also a playful girl who loves her toys and enjoys a good game with the people I trust. As a large breed dog, I’m looking for a home with children aged 11 years and over who can understand my need for space while I’m settling in. I will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing where I can safely stretch my legs, play, and relax. I can be left for up to two hours once I’ve settled into my new routine, but I much prefer having my people around. Because I can be worried by change, I’ll need my new home to be within an hour of the centre so that home visits can take place to help me get to know my new family before moving in. These visits will help me build my confidence and make my transition as stress-free as possible. I may be able to live with a cat, pending a successful cat test. What I’m really looking for is a patient, understanding family who will give me the time I need to come out of my shell.
