Adopt Max

Mixed Breed · Male

MAX is like Russell Crowe from the movie Gladiator, as he is just as strong, handsome and stubborn. This big guy is extremely loving, but sometimes forgets how big and strong he is, thus unintentionally hurting. It would suit people who are physically strong and have a strong character, who would be able to control this mischievous handsome dog. At first, walks with Max will not be easy, because he does not know how to walk nicely on a leash. He pulls until he gets tired, and then it is possible to walk more calmly. He is very playful and has a lot of emotions, which he shows by growling and biting the leash, which scares those who do not know him. With proper training, he would become a great walking companion. Max is suitable for a home only without other animals. It is still difficult to accurately say his reaction to other dogs. Most of his life he lived in a kennel. For a month he was happy at home, where he felt fairly good, but due to lack of things to do he tore up several blankets. Vaccinated, microchipped, not neutered. Birth date: 2020.10.

Jis tempia kol pavargsta, o tada jau galima ramiau eiti. Max tinka į namus tik be kitų gyvūnų. Dar tiksliai sunku pasakyti jo reakciją į kitus šunis. Didžiąją gyvenimo dalį jis gyveno voljere. Mėnesį laiko džiaugėsi namais, kur jautėsi gana neblogai, tik iš neturėjimo ką veikti sudraskė kelis guolius. Skiepytas, ženklintas, kastruotas. Gimimo data: 2020.10.15

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SOS Gyvūnai in Šalčininkų r. sav..

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇹Adopting from Lithuania

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Gyvūnai handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Gyvūnai will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Gyvūnai early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
