DOG MAX OK. 8 YEARS 616093902623544 (285/24) VACCINATIONS: YES BOGS: 15 Max arrived at the animal shelter on August 8, 2024. He was surrendered by a caregiver based on a release form. Max is a lab type dog who once had a home… but in 2024, he was given to the animal shelter. We know one thing – Max deserves a second chance. When Max arrived at Promyka, he was lost and mistrustful. Behind the bars, he showed his teeth, trying to protect what was left to him – himself. He had to learn to trust again, and Monika, an employee who pulled him out of his shell of fear, helped him. She met him with the first volunteer and started the "wave of help" for Max. Each volunteer had to get to know him separately, and each had to give him a credit of trust. And today… today, he is a completely different dog. At the sight of his people, he wags his tail like a puppy, bounces, and demands attention. He walks nicely on a leash, and when you throw a ball, he shows that many more joys still slumber in his doggy heart. Max loves being petted – he exposes his rump for a pat with such enthusiasm that it's hard not to smile. Then his entire bottom flies with joy, as if he wants to say: "Look, I'm here! Give me another hug!" This is a dog who needs time and patience, but will give his whole heart in return. If you give him a chance – you will gain the most loyal friend. We are looking for a quiet home for Max, preferably without small children, with a person who understands that love is not just cuddling but also the patient building of trust. Max is waiting. Maybe it's for you?

PIES MAX OK. 8 LAT 616093902623544 (285/24) SZCZEPIENIA: TAK BOKS: 15 Do schroniska trafił 08.08.2024 roku. To ona poznała go z pierwszą wolontariuszką i ruszyła “fala pomocy” dla Maxa. Każdego wolontariusza musiał poznać osobno, każdemu musiał dać kredyt zaufania. A dziś… dziś to zupełnie inny pies. Max czeka. Może właśnie na Ciebie?

About MAX

What life with MAX looks like

MAX is a adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAX, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAX?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAX on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAX if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAX already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAX isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAX and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
