Adopt MAX

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Breed: mixed breed (HSH-mixed breed?) Project: Greece/Larissa Gender: male Age: born 01.07.2023 Size: growing Sonother: well socialized with other dogs, friendly with all people, to be placed in experienced handsCurrent location: intake station in Greece/Larissa MAX's Story On a hot summer day, the call for help came from a kind lady who told our colleague that a little puppy was lying on the street and could no longer move. Of course, help had to be given immediately! The lady was so kind and brought the little guy directly to the animal clinic. Our veterinarian Sophia was already waiting for the little one and he was immediately given a thorough examination and X-ray. Unfortunately, it turned out that the hip was injured, but immobilization would not require surgery. He was still so small that the fracture could be fixed, and he had to spend the next two weeks in the clinic. After that, he was allowed to go to the intake station, but he still had to be kept in a small kennel for another three weeks. Fortunately, the little man was so patient and endured everything without complaint. And it was worth it! After this difficult time, MAX developed into a playful and energetic puppy. There is no longer any trace of his earlier injury, and running, playing, and jumping are now part of his daily routine without any problems. MAX gets along well with all the dogs in the shelter, whether large or small, young or old, female or male. This is a current and accurate assessment of MAX. How he will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and continue to develop. But with the right and loving guidance, MAX will certainly become a great companion. Unfortunately, with "foundlings," we can never know which breeds are involved. But it is suspected that the Greek German Shepherd was also involved in MAX. How and to what extent this behavior is expressed in mixed breeds cannot be determined. Therefore, MAX is only suitable for experienced hands! MAX is microchipped, vaccinated, and treated against endo- and ectoparasites. At the current age, he is still too young for a test on so-called Mediterranean diseases or castration. We have promised MAX that we will find him the world's best home with loving and experienced people.

Rasse: Mischling (HSH-Mischling?) Projekt: Griechenland/Larissa Geschlecht: männlich Alter: geb. ❤️

About MAX

What life with MAX looks like

MAX is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAX, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAX?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAX on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAX if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAX already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAX isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAX and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
