Adopt Max

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

🖤 Max – a quiet fighter seeks his last great happiness 🖤 Max is about 12 years old. A senior dog weighing around 25 kg and about 50 cm shoulder height. And Max knows almost nothing of what a dog's life should be. He spent his entire life on a chain, without proximity, without security, without his own dog bed. Today, Max is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped – and medically well cared for. A tumor on his left hind leg was completely removed and fortunately was benign. His eyes are age-appropriate in condition. X-rays showed, however, a cruciate ligament tear on his right hind leg as well as arthritis in his left – signs of a tough life. And yet: 💛 Max is surprisingly active for his age 💛 incredibly loving, cuddly, and people-oriented 💛 house-trained and has even learned a few commands Max is a soul dog. Rescued by our veterinarian Iulia, who did not look away. She fought for him, had him operated on, and cared for him – but unfortunately, he could not stay with her. Even his foster home can no longer keep him. So Max has now landed in the animal shelter Asipa. An old dog. With health issues. A dog who has no time to lose. We do not know how long Max will live. But we know that he deserves to finally experience how love, warmth, and security feel. 🏡✨ 🙏 Max is urgently seeking a home or a loving foster home a quiet place, a soft bed, gentle hands – and people who say: "You are not too old. You are just right." Max is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. 📩 If you want to give Max this chance, we are very happy to hear from you. About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
