MAX

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 6 years

Max, a loving companion in search of his family. Max is an adorable Yorkshire Terrier with a sociable and endearing personality. He is always happy to share time with humans, enjoys companionship, and loves being at the center of family life. This affectionate little dog will bring much tenderness and joy to his future home. Max is very fond of walks and loves discovering the world around him and enjoying the outdoors. A garden where he can relax, explore, and play would be a true delight for him. Max has already lived with children. He interacts with them without aggression, although he may sometimes become jealous when he feels he's not getting enough attention. In these moments, he simply seeks to regain his place among his humans. Max gets along well with other dogs and encounters on walks are uneventful. However, we do not yet know how he reacts to cats, as he has never encountered them before. Car rides do not pose a problem for him. Max is generally clean but may have accidents when left alone too long. He therefore tolerates solitude in limited ways and will need a family that is present and can devote time and attention to him. During veterinary visits, he can become reactive when stressed. A gentle and reassuring approach during care would be necessary. The ideal home for MaxA family present and attentive to his needs. Adopters who love walks and shared activities. Children who respect animals can be part of the household. People ready to offer him attention, patience, and lots of love. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 523 44 16.

About MAX

What life with MAX looks like

MAX is a small adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAX, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAX?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAX on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAX if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAX already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAX isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAX and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
