He is very friendly with other dogs and likes to play with them. He loves blankets. He is not a barker. When he is in his bed, he allows petting or vaccinations without problems. + a new video and 7 new photos added. Update 4 July 2025: Maximiliano is still afraid when there are people around him. With dogs there, he has no problem. With the regular volunteers at the animal shelter who take care of him, his interaction is progressing and he is becoming more familiar. He goes on walks and then stays half a meter away from the volunteers or walks. But when they try to touch him, Maximiliano runs away quickly. In the kennel run, anyone can pet him, even strangers, he simply 'freezes' out of fear. Maximiliano remains VIP so that he has the safety of the animal shelter. Update 29 July 2024: Maximiliano is the one who has improved the least regarding people. He goes walking with all the dogs and has no problems with any of them. He also walks with the volunteers but does not want us to touch him. When he is in his dog house, we can touch him but he remains frozen; he does not bark, he does not try to bite, he just sits still. Hopefully, Maximiliano will gain enough trust in people one day to be adopted, until then we will continue to take good care of him and work with him! 5 new photos and video added. Input 20 March 2022: Maximiliano was known by half the village because he was left in an area with many houses and much grassland. He was fed by the neighbors for a long time because it was not possible to catch him, we often came but it never worked. On 27 February 2022 we finally managed to catch him because he had made it a habit to sleep in a garage of a neighbor. Although many neighbors fed him, no one wanted to adopt him and that was very sad. We were told that he had lost weight over the past few months, it seems he lost his appetite and had trouble getting up. When we arrived and saw him, something strange about him caught our attention. He went back so much and was so sad, that was not normal for him. We had everything checked but nothing was found. X-rays, ultrasound, analysis of his urine but nothing... Maximiliano had a slight fever, that was all. We think something must have happened on the street: it could be that a car hit him or that someone hit him. We gave him some painkillers and it seems that he started to recover after that. And indeed, he is now wandering around the animal shelter and is becoming good friends with the other dogs. Maximiliano gets along very well with the other dogs and does not bark and makes no other noise, he is a very quiet dog. He loves his crate with the blanket and also likes to ride in the car. When it comes to people, he is a bit scared, but has never tried to bite and does not freeze either. Maximiliano is not a dog for beginners, he just doesn't trust people yet, but it's getting better every day. Maximiliano has a quiet place with people who have experience with dogs with little trust and who give him the time and love to regain his confidence. Hij is erg vriendelijk tegen andere honden en speelt graag met ze. Hij houdt van dekens. Hij is geen blaffer. Als hij in zijn bed ligt, laat hij zich aaien of vaccinaties geven zonder problemen. + een nieuwe video en 7 nieuwe foto's toegevoegd. Update 4 juli 2025: Maximiliano is nog steeds angstig als er mensen om hem heen zijn. Met honden daarin tegen heeft hij geen probleem. Met de vaste vrijwilligers in het asiel die hem verzorgen gaat zijn interactie wel vooruit en is hij al meer vertrouwd. Hij gaat mee met wandelingen en blijft dan een halve meter van de vrijwilligers af staan of lopen. Maar wanneer ze hem proberen aan te raken dan rent Maximiliano snel weg. In de kennel kan iedereen hem aaien, zelfs voor hem vreemde mensen, hij ‘bevriest’ dan gewoon van angst. Maximiliano blijft hierom gewoon VIP zodat hij wel de veiligheid van het asiel heeft. Update 29 juli 2024: Maximiliano is degene die het minst verbeterd is ten opzichte van mensen. Hij gaat met alle honden wandelen en heeft met geen van hen problemen. Hij loopt ook met de vrijwilligers wel mee maar hij wil niet dat we hem aanraken. Als hij in zijn hondenhok zit, kunnen we hem aanraken maar hij blijft als versteend achter; hij blaft niet, hij probeert niet te bijten, hij blijft gewoon stil zitten. Hij werd lange tijd gevoed door de buren omdat het niet mogelijk was om hem te pakken te krijgen, we zijn er vaak geweest maar het was nooit gelukt. Op 27 februari 2022 konden we hem eindelijk te pakken krijgen omdat hij er zijn gewoonte van had gemaakt om in een garage van een buurman te slapen. Hoewel veel buren hem te eten gaven, wilde niemand hem adopteren en dat was heel jammer. Er is ons verteld dat hij de afgelopen maanden was afgevallen, het lijkt erop dat hij zijn eetlust verloor en problemen had met opstaan. Toen we bij hem aankwamen en we hem zagen viel ons iets vreemds aan hem op. Hij ging zo achteruit en was zo verdrietig, dat was niet normaal voor hem. We hebben alles laten controleren maar er was niets te vinden. Röntgenfoto's, ultrasoon onderzoek, analyse van zijn urine maar niets... Maximiliano had een beetje koorts, dat was alles. We denken dat er op straat iets moet zijn gebeurd: het kan zijn dat een auto hem heeft aangereden of dat iemand hem heeft geslagen. We hebben hem wat pijnstillers gegeven en het lijkt erop dat hij daarna ging herstellen. En inderdaad, hij dwaalt al door het asiel en wordt al goede vrienden met de andere honden. Maximiliano kan heel goed met de andere honden overweg en blaft niet en maakt verder ook geen lawaai, hij is een erg rustige hond. Hij is dol op zijn mand met de deken en hij rijdt ook graag in de auto. Als het om mensen gaat is hij een beetje bang, maar heeft nooit geprobeerd om te bijten en hij verstijfd ook niet. Maximiliano is niet een hond voor beginners, hij vertrouwt mensen gewoon nog niet, maar het wordt elke dag beter. Maximiliano heeft rustige plek bij mensen die ervaring hebben met honden met nog weinig vertrouwen en die hem de tijd en liefde geven om rustig het vertrouwen terug te winnen.
