Adopt Maya

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

Hi friends, I'm sweet Maya! After a difficult past, I'm finally ready to find my forever family 💖 At 11 years old, I'm far from being an old lady! I'm still energetic, even though I also have a little princess side 👑 and I enjoy the comfort of a nice soft basket. Be careful, even though I'm a small dog, I'm not a stuffed animal! I need walks, to discover the world, to meet dog friends and have activities to thrive 🐕 About my personality, my foster family says I get along with everyone. I'm very affectionate and I ask for a lot of attention and cuddles (and I give just as much!). So, if you're up for an adventure, don't hesitate to fill out a form... Maybe you'll be the person with whom I'll finally forget my past ❤️ I was found in a filthy apartment, among the trash, urine and feces, during a police intervention. Moved by my situation, a police officer contacted the association to help me, as well as my fellow unfortunate companion. After a night at the police station, I took the train for my new life to join my foster family. Today, I'm ready to turn the page and discover my forever family 💕 I'm not very demanding. I'm simply looking for a family that will take care of me, respect me and not see me as a stuffed animal. An outside space would be a big plus, as I enjoy spending time outside, enjoying fresh air and observing what's going on around me. However, living in an apartment could perfectly suit me too, provided I have regular nice walks and quality time with my humans. I'm looking for presence, tenderness and a family ready to offer me a happy retirement, balanced between walks and well-earned naps 💕 Regarding other dogs, I get along very well with them and have no issues with children. As for cats, it's a bit more vague: I've never lived with one. However... I must admit that I sometimes chase the neighbor's cat (but he's the one who comes into my garden, right? 😅). 🍼 Date of birth: 11/07/2015 🐶 Breed: Spitz💡 Identified (no. 990 12), vaccinated, spayed📍 Location: 22 ✅ To adopt me, we will ask you for a contribution of 300 €. 😅). 🍼 Date de naissance : 11/07/2015 🐶 Race : Spitz💡 Identifiée ( n° 990 00 00 00 23 44 12), vaccinée, stérilisée📍 Localisation : 22 ✅ Pour m’adopter, nous vous demanderons une participation de 300 €. About Maya

What life with Maya looks like

Maya is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Brigade Animale Bénévole in brigade animale benevole.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Brigade Animale Bénévole handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Brigade Animale Bénévole will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Brigade Animale Bénévole early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
