Maya is a fabulous young collie who we rescued from the worst conditions imaginable. Locked up alone in a filthy shed for the first 2 years of her life, it is astonishing to discover that this is such a gentle, happy, well-balanced dog. Maya has made such lovely progress in all aspects of training – onlead, offlead, with other dogs, learning about dog beds and starting toilet training. It has all been incredibly smooth for her. Yes, she is still unsure of herself, and cautiously shy, but she has a perfect temperament for learning quickly and being willing. Maya would be fine to live with children 8+ as long as they are gentle with her initially. She does really well with other dogs, so a companion might be nice for her, but not essential. We might prefer a rural home because traffic, lots of people and strange noises are all new for her, but if the home is loving enough and happy enough we will definitely consider all options.
