Maya

Female · 3 years

Maya is a Boa Constrictor measuring approximately 1.75 meters in length and weighing 2.7 kilograms. She requires a tropical terrarium that should be at least 2 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 2 meters high. As the care of the animals is an important point that often leads to their rejections, we are happy to assist and advise on the appropriate choice of enclosure. Maya is a very active snake that likes to use the entire area of her terrarium and also wishes to establish contact with the people in her surroundings. For her care, a knowledge of animal care and a landlord's permit are necessary, as well as, depending on the federal state, possibly also a keeping permit from the lower nature conservation authority. Please inquire beforehand, preferably also with us, about the respective regulations. If you can provide Maya with the right home, please contact her animal caretakers at the Exotenhaus by phone. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Maya

What life with Maya looks like

Maya is a large adult animal waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Maya far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Requires tropical terrarium minimum 2m x 2m x 2m, expertise certificate, landlord permission, and potentially government permit depending on state regulations

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
