adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mayla has found her forever home! Her story: 63826 Geiselbach. Mayla could travel to her foster home in early February! Upon arrival, she was a shy female dog, but within a short time, she developed into a super loving, friendly female dog. Although she is still sometimes shy, she is also curious and takes an active part in family life. Originally from Zalau in Romania, she was found abandoned on the roadside and left to fend for herself. She gets along well with her fellow animals, adapts to them, and enjoys their company. An existing only dog would be the ideal case for her! Mayla loves being outdoors but can also simply relax on her spot. She has a balanced, calm, very pleasant personality, and people like having her around. She already enjoys cuddles and comes on her own to receive them. The young female dog is currently 8 months old and is 53 cm tall, and will still grow a bit. It could be that Mayla is a Terrier mix. We are looking for a loving home for Mayla, where she can discover everything new with her people. Since she is very young, we are optimistic that she will quickly adapt to her new trusted people and build a close bond with them. This connection will give her the security and orientation she needs to learn everything a four-legged friend should know and be able to do. A rural home with a garden, where she can explore and keep an eye on at her leisure, would be the ideal place for this special treasure. Mayla is entering puberty – an exciting phase for all dog parents. It is normal for her to start questioning rules and testing her boundaries during this time. A understanding but consistent guidance is crucial. We recommend attending a qualified dog training class, which can also provide additional physical and mental stimulation. We can hardly wait to see Mayla happy and content. After a positive evaluation, she is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. From the roadside directly to the heart – who will make this dream come true? Many thanks, Moni and Carmen! On your birthdays, our fur princess received her name. Many thanks, Gisela Sch.-W.! Vielen Dank Gisela Sch.-W.! Du unterstützt Mayla mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft!

About Mayla

What life with Mayla looks like

Mayla is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mayla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mayla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mayla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mayla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mayla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mayla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mayla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
