Mayli

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mayli has found her home! Her story: The young mother Mayli currently lives with her daughter in the public shelter of Baia Mare and hopes for a better future. We cannot say much about her past, like with so many street dogs in Romania, but it surely wasn't a happy life as a family dog, as we know and wish for her. Maya longs for a family where she will be loved and cared for, and where she can sleep in a warm, cozy dog bed without worries. Mayli is a ca. 3-year-old, ca. 53 cm tall female dog. She has black fur with white socks and a white patch. She currently shows some shyness towards the shelter staff but is also very happy with attention. We are sure that her new family will quickly convince her that cuddle sessions are a great thing. She lives with her daughter Cellie. The compatibility with others with other dogs has not yet been tested. It is assumed that Mayli is not yet familiar with life in a house, so house training and behavioral rules are probably still unknown to her. But we are sure that Mayli will quickly learn the whole dog 1×1 if trained patiently and lovingly. Mayli dreams of her very own home and a family that will make her laugh. We wish adopters who will lovingly and patiently take her in, offer her a family connection, a warm dog bed, and beautiful walks. After the adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively working dog training class, where Mayli can make positive experiences together with her new family and build a good bond with her people. The cute Mayli travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and would also be very happy to stay in a foster home. Many thanks to Anja R., who gave Mayli the lovely name and thus a personal identity! Date: 06.11.

Stand: 06.11.2024

About Mayli

What life with Mayli looks like

Mayli is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mayli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mayli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mayli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mayli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mayli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mayli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mayli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
