Adopt Maylo

Husky · Male · Young · 3 years

Maylo (born ca.01.01.2022, 27 kg) is a wonderfully beautiful Husky-Mix who does not loudly ask for attention but rather quietly seeks it. He meets strangers with a certain skepticism at first, but never unfriendliness. He needs a moment – and that’s what makes him so special. Once his heart is won, Maylo shows his softer side: then he seeks closeness, enjoys cuddle sessions, and bonds closely with his primary caregiver. Outdoors, Maylo is an absolute pleasure to have along. He walks well on a leash, shows himself unobtrusive, and loves to be on the go. Long walks, discovering new paths, and exploring the world – that’s exactly his thing. With other dogs, Maylo gets along well, especially the company of female dogs he greatly appreciates. With male dogs, his preference is decided by their sympathy. For Maylo, an ideal home would be in a more quiet area where he can enjoy extended walks. A house with a garden would be a dream come true for him, but it’s not a must – much more important are people with patience, calmness, and an open heart. Maylo does not seek a home for a quick fix but people who will give him time – and in return, a loyal, sensitive companion for life.

About Maylo

What life with Maylo looks like

Maylo is a large young adult husky dog waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs patient owners and time to warm up to new people. Reserved status indicates adoption pending.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maylo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maylo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maylo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maylo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maylo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maylo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maylo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
