Adopt Mázli

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

There is a dog named Mázli. Honestly… we don't know where the scruffy little Mázli has been in its life until now. Mázli is a 7-year-old little boy, a dog with an infinitely noble soul who still believes in people despite every loss of faith. There would be reason to think otherwise. They kept him on a leash. They beat him, they hit him. Even children hurt him. They lit a fire at him. The sudden movements still startle him. His past left a mark on his little soul. And yet… Mázli still approaches people. He craves affection. He seeks closeness. He quietly loves. A giving type who hasn't fought back – only tried to endure. Since then, he has grown a lot. He cherishes every kindness, every attention a hundredfold. We see it on him, that he wants to finally arrive somewhere. A place where he no longer needs to fear. Unfortunately, he doesn't get along with other dogs, so we recommend him as an only dog. We are looking for a home where there is at least a bigger child, and where he won't be a fancy pet or a guard, but a real family member. Because Mázli doesn't ask for much. Just one chance. A soft place to lay his head. A few gentle strokes. And someone who finally shows him that there is also a human hand that doesn't cause pain. A hirtelen mozdulatoktól ma is megijed. A múltja nyomot hagyott a kis lelkén.És mégis…Mázli odabújik az emberhez. Simogatást kér. Keresi a közelséget. Csendesen szeret. About Mázli

What life with Mázli looks like

Mázli is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ürömi Állatotthon in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mázli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mázli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ürömi Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mázli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mázli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ürömi Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mázli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mázli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ürömi Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mázli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
