MEDIANA

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Born in 2017, MEDIANA was wandering for several months and didn't want to be caught. When she finally arrived at the animal shelter, she was terrified of the whole world, fleeing to the shed at the sight of a person and not allowing anyone to approach her. Over time, she gradually became accustomed to the presence of people, ate treats from them and allowed gentle touch. Now, MEDIANA is very happy to see a trusted person and loves spending time with her. Thanks to the work of committed volunteers, after a year she allowed herself to be put on a leash and now she is getting better at walking on it, usually walks politely in the forest and sniffs a lot. Many things still stress her out, and when frightened, she may try to escape. She usually reacts nervously to people and other dogs, but gradually realizes that nothing is threatening her. She is rather positively disposed towards dogs in close contact, although a bit overwhelmed. She is very afraid of loud noises; when she hears a noise nearby, she may try to escape without considering that she might hurt herself. However, it is enough that someone she trusts is with her and the noises are no longer so scary. At the moment, she is afraid of cars and enclosed spaces, she resists strongly before passing through the door. MEDIANA is not aggressive, but if someone she does not trust crosses her limits, she may threaten with her teeth. However, once she gives her trust, she becomes a dog who looks at her caregiver, seeks support in her, and allows many things, including putting on a muzzle and taking her to the veterinarian. She likes to play with a person and willingly submits to caresses, but she prefers to just lie next to a person and calm down. MEDIANA is looking for a patient, calm home that understands her needs and provides a sense of security. It should be realized that MEDIANA is a shy and strongly withdrawn dog, and therefore adoption will require a longer introduction period.

About MEDIANA

What life with MEDIANA looks like

MEDIANA is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting MEDIANA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MEDIANA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MEDIANA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MEDIANA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MEDIANA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MEDIANA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know MEDIANA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
