Instead, he’s waiting. Not because nobody wants him. Not because he’s difficult. But because life sometimes makes decisions that no one can influence. His owner became seriously ill and could no longer care for him. And so Medo lost his home—though nobody wanted to lose him. What’s particularly impressive is that Medo has retained his joy of life. Anyone who gets to know him meets a cheerful, playful, and incredibly friendly dog who takes each day as it comes. He loves people, enjoys attention, and rejoices at every petting—as if it were something truly special. Medo gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a confident personality and knows exactly what he wants. Yet he’s by no means quarrelsome; rather, he’s a dog who goes through life with a certain composure. Maybe a little boss—but one of the likeable kind. Particularly lovely is his open nature. Medo approaches new situations with curiosity and interest. He’s playful, cuddly, and strikes just the right balance between activity and coziness. A dog you can go out and do things with, yet who also loves nothing more than curling up with his people and simply enjoying their time together. For Medo, we wish for a home where he can once again be part of a family—people who not only have room for a dog but for a true friend. A companion whose big heart, friendly nature, and unmistakable smile make each day just a little bit brighter. Sometimes all it takes is one single glance to know that a dog is something special. With Medo, often just a photo is enough. ❤️ .fusion-body .fusion-button Interested in adopting? (Click here) .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-67 > only screen and (

About Medo

What life with Medo looks like

Medo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Medo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Medo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Medo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Medo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Medo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Medo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Medo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
