adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Meena has found her home! Her story: Little Meena searches for great love The sweet Meena is part of a special gang: the "Gang Seven." She is one of seven siblings who were abandoned together with their mom in the cold. Fortunately, they were found by our animal welfare workers* before something bad could happen. While her mom has already found a loving home, Meena and her siblings are still searching for their forever people. The adorable Meena enchants all with her thick, soft, black fur and the striking, light markings on her snout, eyebrows, chest, legs, and paws. She shows herself as a friendly, curious, and brave puppy. Despite being only about 4 months old, she already appears very balanced and open to everything new. She wants to explore the world and gets along well with her fellow animals. Of her siblings, she is the smallest. Currently, she has a shoulder height of 30 cm and weighs around 5 kg. When fully grown, she is likely to remain smaller, as she doesn't have as long legs as her siblings already do. Due to her appearance, it is not out of the question that a herding or guardian dog mix might be in Meena, just like in her mom. Her new people should inform themselves about the character of these breeds beforehand. They need a competent and reliable handler and should be allowed to follow their drive through activities like fetch and hide, agility, or similar, to avoid underexertion and the problems that come with it. Positive dog training classes can be a great help—especially during puberty, when young dogs often question everything they've learned. She has not yet lived in a home, so Meena can learn the dog ABC with her new companions step by step. With her open nature, she brings the best prerequisites to settle in quickly. Meena travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, as well as with an EU pet passport to her new home. Due to her young age, she is not yet spayed. Stand: 20.09.

Hast du dich in Meena verliebt? Vielen Dank an Caro B.! Stand: 20.09.2025

About Meena

What life with Meena looks like

Meena is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Meena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Meena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Meena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Meena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Meena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Meena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Meena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
