adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Melinda has found a home! Her story: Fantanele, Romania. Mimmi, Johann, Izzy, Melinda, and Jantje are the charming puppies of our Lisa. They were found together on the roadside in a box and had great fortune in meeting their life savers. Now, the little family lives in the private shelter of Fantanele, but unfortunately also in outdoor runs and not particularly comfortably. We hope very much that all of them will soon win their ticket to happiness. From early May, the puppies will be ready for travel. Melinda – a sweet puppy! She is really a cuddly mouse, gives kisses freely, and is friendly, playful, and curious. Our helpers are very in love and can't stop smiling when they are in the run of the little family. We assume that all will reach a small size. Melinda is looking for people who don't expect anything from her at first and show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against her and Melinda should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding puberty phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far and the ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Our Melinda is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated for travel arrangements. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted if you have a positive "kiss alarm" with your faithful companion. Then Melinda is surely the right one for you! Many thanks, Melanie H.! Your sponsorship was the starting gun for a new life!

About Melinda

What life with Melinda looks like

Melinda is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Melinda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Melinda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Melinda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Melinda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Melinda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Melinda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Melinda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
