Melle

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

Melle, a friendly, open-minded, and sociable young dog, arrived at the shelter in May along with his siblings and mother. Initially, he developed unremarkably and showed himself to be a cheerful, playful puppy. In July, about ten days after his vaccination, Melle suddenly began to walk in circles and tilt his head. He was immediately presented to a veterinarian, but no cause could be determined at first. Since the head tilt did not completely disappear, we wanted to get to the bottom of the matter and had an MRI performed. This, as well as a later X-ray, showed no unusual findings. Since no other cause could be found, it is suspected that it may be a reaction in connection with the vaccination, particularly the distemper vaccination. However, a clear cause could not be determined. Melle himself is not impressed by this. He is a completely normal, playful, and cheerful young dog who curiously discovers his environment and simply enjoys life. On some days, his head tilt is barely noticeable, and the next moment it is again clearly visible. Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict whether the tilt will regress over time. It is quite possible that Melle will retain his crooked head permanently. We wish for Melle people who do not reduce him to his small peculiarity, but see the cheerful, lovable young dog he is. Those who are not deterred by this will get a great companion with Melle, who is full of joie de vivre despite his special history. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, and have an EU passport. They are checked for age-appropriate Mediterranean diseases. See the information on our homepage. Each dog placed makes room for a new dog from the streets, who are starving and emaciated, living their lives.

DE·Show original

About Melle

What life with Melle looks like

Melle is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Frequently asked

Adopting Melle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Melle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Melle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Melle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Melle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Melle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Melle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
