Mellie

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Mellie once had a home. She was given to the shelter by a man who stated that Mellie, according to his claim, had been taken in by older people who could no longer or no longer wanted to take care of her. He wanted to prevent Mellie from being abandoned. Mellie is 6 years old and certainly does not belong on the scrap heap, but is in the best age for a dog. She measures around 57 cm in height and weighs about 30 kg. So, Mellie belongs to the larger medium-sized dogs, but is not a giant. The pretty female dog has a shortened tail, which means she is not allowed to enter Switzerland. The gentle fur-nose with her black-and-white cuddly fur is very friendly and open to people. Compatibility with other dogs and cats has not yet been tested. We do not know how Mellie lived in her old home. Did she live as part of the family in the household or did she have to lead a lonely life outside? Therefore, we do not know whether Mellie is familiar with life in a household and the rules that come with it. It is possible that Mellie needs to learn the dog ABCs partially. We therefore wish for loving and empathetic people who can show her how a beautiful coexistence works and who can accompany her on her journey with patience and consistency. Mellie should not have a life in the shelter, but deserves a happy future with great people by her side. Are you this person? Then contact us very gladly. We would also be incredibly grateful for a foster home to give Mellie a stepping stone. Mellie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated, has an EU pet passport, and is ready for travel arrangements. Thanks Andrea! You have given Mellie her name and thus an identity. As of: 05.06.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Mellie

What life with Mellie looks like

Mellie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
