MELON

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Melon is a 3-year-old small dog (weighing less than 10 kg) who has already experienced a lot despite his young age. He is an exceptionally sensitive and fearful dog who is just learning to trust the world. He is looking for a quiet home and a patient caregiver who will give him time to flourish. Melon is a gentle boy with a calm disposition. He is well-behaved, doesn't cause problems - he doesn't destroy in the kennel, doesn't bark unnecessarily, and can maintain cleanliness. Although he can be shy, when he feels safe, he can play and show his happy side. Unfortunately, he doesn't get along with other dogs - he is afraid of them, so he will find his best place as a single dog. He would be perfect for a home without other animals, in a quiet environment, without too many stimuli. Melon is vaccinated, dewormed, and ready for adoption.

PL·Show original

Melon to około 3-letni, drobny psiak (waży niespełna 10 kg), który mimo młodego wieku sporo już przeszedł. To piesek wyjątkowo wrażliwy i lękliwy, który dopiero uczy się ufać światu. Szuka spokojnego domu i cierpliwego opiekuna, który da mu czas, by rozkwitnąć. Melon to łagodny chłopak o spokojnym usposobieniu.

About MELON

What life with MELON looks like

MELON is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stalowowolskie Stowarzyszenie Opieki nad Zwierzętami in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting MELON, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MELON?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stalowowolskie Stowarzyszenie Opieki nad Zwierzętami handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MELON on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MELON if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stalowowolskie Stowarzyszenie Opieki nad Zwierzętami will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MELON already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MELON isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stalowowolskie Stowarzyszenie Opieki nad Zwierzętami early rather than rehoming privately; they know MELON and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
