Adopt Mex

Golden Retriever · Male · Young · 1 year

For interest in our beloved Mex, please send us our filled-out application form: Mex comes to us directly from Turkey, usually from their families. What we know about Mex: Mex is a beautiful, energetic, approximately 2-year-old Golden Retriever full of life and ready to finally arrive. Mex was simply abandoned. His owners moved away and left him in the garden, locked in a small shed, like in a chicken coop. There, he was on his own, barking in despair all day until neighbors took notice. Eventually, he was rescued by dedicated helpers and brought to us. Now, Mex is with us and waiting for his second chance. Mex, due to his young age, is still very energetic and full of life, loves movement, and is ready to discover the world anew. He is friendly, social with other dogs, and shows openness in contact. At the same time, he – typically – brings a lot of energy and needs clear, loving guidance, structure, and stimulation. He is good with other dogs, and cat compatibility has not been tested. What we wish for Mex: • active people who like to be outdoors • enjoyment of movement, training, and mental stimulation • clear, loving guidance • time and engagement for a young, energetic dog If he gets a chance, he will become a loyal, lively companion who finally gets to experience what a real home means. Nice to know: Mex has a lot to make up for – but just as much to give. For interest in our beloved Mex, please send us our filled-out application form:.

About Mex

What life with Mex looks like

Mex is a medium-sized young adult golden retriever dog waiting at Care-4-life e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Care-4-life e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Care-4-life e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Care-4-life e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
