Kitir

Golden Retriever · Male · Adult · 4 years

Kitir, born on January 1, 2023, is a beautiful English Red Golden Retriever, neutered and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. Currently, Kitir lives with his trainer at a foster home in 29640 Schneverdingen-Insel (Lower Saxony). There, he is worked with, accompanied in everyday life, and can be visited and personally met by appointment. Kitir is a very lively, active, and extremely people-oriented dog. He seeks the proximity of his people, is very cooperative and wants to please. He takes boundaries well, learns quickly and above all sustainably. In the past weeks, Kitir has already shown and learned an incredible amount: 🐾 He runs freely, stays well within the radius and is reliably called back. 🐾 He runs beautifully on a leash. 🐾 He travels problem-free in the car. 🐾 He is compatible with other dogs. 🐾 He runs very well with the horse. 🐾 He is attentive, eager to learn and likes to be with his human. We consciously want a rural home for Kitir with active people. We do not see a life in the middle of the city for him. He wants to get out, move and experience something together with his people. We could therefore imagine him particularly well with horse people. But also with people who like to hike, take long walks, travel or integrate their dog as much as possible into their everyday life. Mantrailing or sensible retrieving work would certainly be activities that Kitir would enjoy. Kitir is extremely people-oriented. Therefore, we are looking for a home where he can be with him a lot. Being alone is currently being trained and already works for about 1-2 hours, but must be built up further in the new home. Ideal would be people who can take him to work with them and where he does not regularly have to be alone for many hours. We can well imagine children from about 8 years with him. Cats should not live in the new home. Kitir is looking for people who not only find an active Golden Retriever beautiful, but really want to live with him, take him with them and work with him together. Whoever gets to know him gets the opportunity to make a real picture of him at his foster home - and at the same time a professional assessment of his trainer. Nice to know: Kitir can be visited and met at his foster home by appointment. If you are interested in our dear Kitir, please send our completed interest form to:

About Kitir

What life with Kitir looks like

Kitir is a medium-sized adult golden retriever dog waiting at Care-4-life e.V. in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kitir, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kitir?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Care-4-life e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kitir on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kitir if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Care-4-life e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kitir already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kitir isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Care-4-life e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kitir and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
