Mia

Chihuahua Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 8 years

Hi, it's Mia here.I am a tiny little girl who is on the look out for my new forever family.Although I am a little bit of a worrier, I am super sweet and just need some nice new kind owners to help me build up my trust in them and then my own confidence. As like many Chihuahuas, I can be quite noisy initially when meeting new people and dogs, or when going to new places, but I soon settle down as long as you are there to support me.Due to my size I will need gentle handling but am a real cuddle bug and love to be close to you and give lots of licks. I walk very well on my lead and am looking forward to getting out and about with my new owners as I haven't done much of this lately due to my previous family's circumstances.I have lived with other dogs in the past but it would need careful management if I was to again, as I am known to squabble over food, treats and my owners attention. I am able to live with cats though with no issues at all so maybe a new feline friend is on the cards for me. I have lived with children before and as long as there are boundaries in place around food I could do again.I am ok to leave home alone as long as I have a warm and cosy bed or spot on the sofa, but I have been known to toilet inside so I will need kind and patient new owners who are prepared to work with me on this. I cant wait to meet you, love Mia xx NAWT Cornwall Wheal Alfred Kennels Wheal Alfred Road Hayle Cornwall TR27 5JT Choose an item from our Amazon wish-list and it will come straight to us! About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a very small adult chihuahua dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
