Mia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Mia is a medium-sized female dog, born in 2016, of Bardino Mix breed. She has no cats and no other dogs. She has no children. Mia has grown older over the years, bringing with her a wealth of experiences. We must explain that the Pretty One was already able to move into a home in January 2018. With all her energy and enthusiasm, she was so eager to go. What a wonderful feeling, because by that time, Mia already had quite a bit of baggage. Now, four years later, richer in experiences and at her best age, she must once again live behind "bars." There were certainly reasons, life holds so many surprises for us where decisions must be made. We still experience an extremely insecure female dog whose mood can quickly change when she feels uncomfortable in a certain situation. She loves people she trusts, but that does not mean she trusts them 100 percent. This must be earned by both sides. As long as everything follows her rules, she is charming and friendly, although uncertainty is always present. Only here must humans prove how well they can read, understand, and implement dog behavior. She needs clear rules, a daily routine in which she feels safe and thus becomes predictable. It is not that she has to learn everything from scratch; basic commands like "sit" are firmly in place, and her communication with her leash is simply outstanding, highly intelligent, a girl of few words. We are looking for experienced and structured people who are truly and honestly ready to take Mia by the paw. To work with her, to clear away the stumbling blocks.

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Delitzsch in Delitzsch.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Delitzsch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Delitzsch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Delitzsch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
