Adopt Mia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

🐾 Meet Mia🐾 Age: 19/03/2022 Breed: Stafford Gender: female dog Spayed: No Description: Mia was surrendered due to lack of time. She has always lived entirely outdoors with Milo and therefore has no experience with indoor living. Behavior & Personality: Mia is a sweet lady! She has always lived outdoors, so getting used to indoor living will take some time. A garden is therefore definitely a must. Things like being alone at home may need to be built up again, but in her kennel run she is certainly very calm and does not chew things. She has never lived with children, therefore we do not place her with young children. Children from 12 years old who are used to dogs can. What is Mia looking for? A quiet home where she gets the chance to learn to enjoy indoor living and as a family dog. A home without young children, older children (from 12 years old) who are used to dogs is an option. A meeting with a stable male dog is possible. She cannot live with cats. A home together with Milo would be nice, but we are realistic and know that finding someone for both dogs is not evident. Therefore, adoption of one of the dogs is possible separately. Medical: Mia has had several litters in the past. Right now, at 60kg, she is also too heavy. Therefore, diet and exercise building up is definitely also a must for her. Type of animal: Dog Gender: Female Age:

Soort dier: Hond Geslacht: Vrouwelijk Leeftijd: 19/03/2022

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst in Belgium.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
