Mia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Mia is vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, de-fleaed, veterinary examined and has an EU passport. Contact: Mia is not a resident of our animal shelter, but is looking for a new home directly through her foster home. She is in foster care in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, near 19288 Ludwigslust, and if interested, please email. The lovable and currently insecure and reserved MIA is also 1 year old and is also a rather delicate soul on 4 paws. She is approximately 38-40 cm tall. With familiar people, she is already a bit more open and enjoys cuddling. Mia needs some time, patience and a lot of affection to warm up to new people and the many new situations, environments and environmental stimuli. She comes from Romania, has not known anything except the animal shelter so far and has been on her foster home for a short time. Sensitive people with dog experience are in demand here, who give Mia a lot of time and patience until she has full trust. She still needs to learn the dog 1x1 and is looking forward to her new people who will teach her everything patiently and empathetically. She needs people who take her by the paw and show her everything she needs for a happy dog life. Show her how beautiful walks are and what fun it is to run through meadows. Extensive cuddling, playing and romping is of course not missing. The new home should be more rural and a bit quieter, as the city with a lot of traffic, many people and various noises would be too stressful for her. Mia can also be with older, dog-experienced children. Mia is basically compatible with her own kind, but should be a single princess because she claims her food and toys for herself. She is spayed, dewormed, vaccinated with an EU vaccination passport and has a chip. Mia is placed with pre-control, post-control, protection contract and deposit. Since we want to bring her to her new home, we only want to place her within a radius of approximately 250 km. She is looking for a relaxed forever home with patient and empathetic people who have enough time for her. She wants to go through life with her, experience many big and small adventures together and accompany her on her way to become the best friend of her people. In a relaxed environment with empathetic people by her side, Mia will soon flourish and dance cheerfully through her new life. Who gives her this chance. About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Herzsprung.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Herzsprung handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Herzsprung will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Herzsprung early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
