Michi

Husky · Male · Senior · 11 years

Special dog with character seeks experienced home with heart and understanding I am Michi – a dog with a very special character. Unfortunately, my previous owner was overwhelmed with me, and there were some biting incidents. Therefore, I am now looking for a home with experienced dog people who can handle difficult dogs. I am very happy with my trusted people, but my affection does not mean that I immediately give unreserved trust. If I feel threatened or need to defend my resources, I can clearly show that. What sets me apart: Snuggling is one of my favorite hobbies, but I always wear a muzzle because I am very direct about my boundaries – especially when it comes to touching in the wrong place. I do not hesitate to use my teeth to make clear what is uncomfortable for me. I can be quite relaxed on a walk outside and also go on group walks with other dogs when the chemistry is right. I am a lively companion, even though I can sometimes be a bit cranky due to my blind eye. I also look a bit “rebellious,” which I find very fitting for my character – as I see it 🙂 I need people who can offer clear rules and structure and bring patience. Living together in the apartment must be done with a muzzle in the beginning, and a secure area for me should be established – for example, with a baby gate. What I still need to learn: I defend resources, and my new owners must be ready to deal with this behavior. We will support you with management measures, but it will require some time and consistency, especially during the adjustment period.

Meine

About Michi

What life with Michi looks like

Michi is a medium-sized senior husky dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: One blind eye, requires muzzle during interactions, resource guarding behavior, history of biting incidents

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Michi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Michi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Michi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Michi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Michi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Michi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Michi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
