Mika

Husky · Female · Young · 1 year

Hi, I’m Mika!I’m a beautiful 1-year-old Husky, and if you ask everyone at the centre, they’ll probably tell you I’m a bit of an angel!I’m a gentle, loving girl who absolutely adores people. I love getting fuss and attention, and I’ve managed to win over everyone I’ve met at the centre with my sweet nature and gorgeous personality.I’m also a lovely girl when it comes to other dogs. I enjoy their company and have shown that I can get along really well with my four-legged friends. With the right match, I could potentially share my home with another dog, as long as we’re introduced properly and we’re a good fit for each other.I could potentially live with older children who are confident and comfortable around dogs. I’d love to be part of a family where I can get involved in everyday life and enjoy plenty of love, fuss and attention.I really am just a lovely, affectionate girl who wants to be around my people and enjoy everything life has to offer.Being at the centre has been okay, but what I really want now is a family of my very own. I’m ready for a home where I can settle in, feel safe and loved, and finally have my very own people to adore. About Mika

What life with Mika looks like

Mika is a young adult husky dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
