Mila

Mixed Breed · Unknown

In our stray village in Mostar. Mila can travel to Germany on June 26, 2026, and is still searching for a suitable foster or permanent home. Specialties: Mila is a house cat. Mila is one of the ten survivors. A delicate girl with a light face, a soft gaze, and a soul that doesn't open up immediately. She observes the world from a safe distance first, as if she needs to check if she can trust it again. She belonged to the ten cats whose familiar world in Banja Luka suddenly shattered when their primary caregiver was taken from them in a tragic accident on the way home. For Mila, she was everyday life, protection, food, a voice, and a home. A familiar person, a safe rhythm, a piece of security. And then there was suddenly only silence. When our colleague learned of the tragedy, she offered her help. So Mila could move in with the others. Still unsure, still cautious, but finally at a place where the possibility of a future exists. Mila is shy and sensitive. New people are not immediately proximity for her, but something she must learn to understand. She needs time, calm voices, and people who are not disappointed if she cannot be brave right away. Mila does not come with big steps. She comes quietly. With a look that stays. With a small piece of trust that can grow. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Streunerglück e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Streunerglück e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Streunerglück e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Streunerglück e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
