Adopt Mila

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Primary vaccination + Rabies. Mila is looking for her new home. Mila is about 5 years old and a Samoyed female. She comes from poor conditions and is now in a foster home in Croatia. Despite her past, she is a very friendly and affectionate dog who loves the company of people. As a Samoyed, she has typical breed characteristics: she is active, intelligent, and needs sufficient occupation as well as close contact with her humans. Her needs should therefore be taken into account. Mila has tested positive for heartworms. She is already in treatment, and a follow-up test will take place in May. We expect the result to be negative. Mila is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed and is ready to move into her new home. Pickup in Freilassing Who will give this wonderful dog a loving home? About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
