Adopt Mila

Podenco · Female

Residence: 66540 Wiebelskirchen Hallöchen, dear friends, I am Mila, the crazy reporter – always with my nose in the air, to make sure I don’t miss any news. I was born on 07.11.2022 and am approximately 45 cm tall. Unfortunately, I lost my home because my love for adventure simply wasn’t feasible for my human. So here are my dating facts: I am looking for an active home, people who are always on the go outside and also do great things with me where I can use my cleverness, because I was, so to say, bred to be really smart – as a Podenco mix, just like my very pronounced prey drive. I wish for an enclosed garden where I can really run, play, and chill in the sun, but this should not replace our daily outdoor activities. I have no problem with children, but I don’t take them for granted on walks, so I am definitely not a “child-lead” dog. In my home, I do not want any cats, small animals, or the like; I do not tolerate them. Another dog to play with would be super, and currently, I also live in a mixed dog group. Before my travel arrangements to Germany in March 24, I tested positive for leishmaniasis and have been taking two tablets a day since then, which I can easily down with Camembert. My current blood values are exemplary. I believe these are the most important points. So grab a surprise-nose-work backpack, into the hiking boots, and off to meet me, I am eagerly waiting. Interested? Then feel free to contact us… Assistance for our partner association Madrigueras e.V.

Interesse? Dann gerne bei uns melden… Vermittlungshilfe für unseren Partnerverein Madrigueras e.V.

About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a small adult podenco dog waiting at Tierleben Deutschland e.V. in Landau in der Pfalz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierleben Deutschland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierleben Deutschland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierleben Deutschland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
