Adopt Miletta

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Origin Country: Hungary Another grim "case" that saddens and angers. This beloved dog auntie was discovered by neighbors near Menhely on May 4, 2026, and reported to the animal shelter. Whether she was deliberately abandoned there or simply wandered there, we don't know, nor do we know what her past was like. But it couldn't have been good, as she has a huge tumor on her belly. We will never understand how it could come to this. How can one allow their pet to reach such a desolate state and do nothing about it? It's simply incomprehensible and astonishing how much life force there is in this sweet senior dog. At the animal shelter, she was given the name Miletta. As expected, she was neither microchipped nor reported missing. Miletta now waits "behind bars" for her new people who will give her a wonderful old age and love her from the heart, likely the first time in her life. Despite everything, Miletta is a friendly, loving, and grateful female dog. With her beautiful eyes and a gaze that penetrates the heart. Her greatest wish is to be loved, to receive much care and security, to have a safe, soft place to sleep, people who love her unconditionally, and to whom she can give her heart. She shouldn't have to spend her last days in the animal shelter but be protected in the circle of her family. She already walks quite well on a leash and tries to do everything right. We suspect that she probably led a miserable life as a chained dog and thus didn't get to know much. We know it will be difficult to find people for Miletta, but she doesn't need a hundred inquiries; she just needs the right ones who see how wonderful Miletta is. She also has no problems with her fellow animals. We urgently seek enthusiastic dog lovers with big hearts who will also give a chance to a dog senior. Miletta shouldn't have to live in a kennel but should call a cozy dog bed her own, get plenty of cuddles, take beautiful walks through the woods and fields, and simply enjoy her life, knowing she is loved, protected, and cared for. Miletta brings a lot of love to her new home and will be a great companion. Who gives Miletta a chance? Since Miletta is already older, there are still some preparations and checks needed to remove the tumor and minimize the risk of anesthesia. An update will follow. Miletta can travel from around mid/end of June 2026 if she finds a home or a foster home.

About Miletta

What life with Miletta looks like

Miletta is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miletta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miletta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miletta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miletta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miletta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miletta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miletta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
