adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Milla has found a grace period! Her story: Milla had already been lucky and could travel to a foster home near Berlin in February 2023. Originally, the beautiful female dog Milla came from Bistrita in Romania. She has been searching for her “forever family” for over a year and is so ready to start a new, dreamlike dog life with you! Milla is approximately 4-5 years old and has a medium size with a shoulder height of 59cm and a weight of 29kg. She has a wonderful personality and is very people-oriented and affectionate. She greets all people very openly and enthusiastically and puts all her charm into getting cuddles and attention. With adult, calm dogs, she gets along well. With very young and dynamic dogs, small children, and cats, she has her problems. However, when it comes to food, her friendship with others stops. Unfortunately, Milla was diagnosed with a spinal condition called spondylosis. Spondylosis describes a progressive hardening of the spine, which can be caused by foreign influence or a previous accident. Currently, she shows no signs of pain. How this will develop in the future, we of course cannot say. She is house-trained and has learned to walk on a loose leash with her caretakers. At first, she showed insecurities in meeting strangers and other dogs. Clear guidance helps her to quickly overcome this insecurity. Milla was rehomed last year and unfortunately had to return. Here, it became very clear how important boundaries are for a dog like Milla. She is now searching for people who will show her how wonderful life is. Due to her character, she will likely warm up and settle in quickly in her new home. Attending dog training classes will not only bring you and the dog to your goal faster but can also be a lot of fun and strengthen the relationship. If she has won your heart, you can meet her in her foster home after a discussion! Milla travels dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, flea-treated, and neutered to her new home. She has an EU pet passport and will be transferred after a positive assessment. Would you like to give the pretty Milla a home? Then contact us! Many thanks to Anni with Ida! You gave Milla her name and also took on a monthly sponsorship for her! A big thank you also goes to for the great pictures of Milla. As of: 28.10.

Stand: 28.10.2024

About Milla

What life with Milla looks like

Milla is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
