Milly &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Milly is an intake from a friendly association, as she was always overlooked at her previous foster home in the north of Germany. Milly is approaching senior age, but she is far from being a senior. She is an extremely agile dog who loves to run in big circles and enjoys action. She was undoubtedly a well-behaved house dog during her stormy times, and she is anything but a couch potato even now. Currently, she is on liver diet, and all values should recover, with the review to be conducted in cooperation with the association. The trigger was minimal discrepancies in the values. She sometimes lets the sheepdog out, loudly announces when the opposite party participates, but she is not a barker. She also enjoys her quiet phases, so we think that being left alone with some practice won't be a problem. She would like to join in small training sessions, but she brings a good basic obedience with her. She gets along well with male dogs, but she is happy to take the lead. She also accepts corrections from people she respects without any issue. For those who are working and dream of having a dog – here she is – our Milly would be a great start to life with a dog. Children shouldn't be too young, and the parents should guide them on cohabitation. Whether a house with a garden or purely suitable for apartment living, Milly adapts well with the right amount of movement. Who would like to fulfill their dream of having a dog with our Milly?

DE·Show original

About Milly &#8211

What life with Milly &#8211 looks like

Milly &#8211 is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milly &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milly &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milly &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milly &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milly &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milly &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milly &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
