Milo

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 1 year

Milo is our gorgeous 1 year old Labrador cross Beagle looking for his forever home. In the correct, calm environment Milo has the potential to blossom into a loving, playful companion. He does have his worries so would suit a family that are understanding and patient with him as he navigates his transition to his new home. Milo loves to play with his toys and once he is comfortable with you, he enjoys coming over for a fuss. In an active, training minded home we are sure that Milo will grow to be a wonderful addition to a home willing to take their time with him. Milo is an anxious boy who is struggling with kennel life so will benefit from a calm, understanding home that can focus on keeping him stimulated whilst being mindful of his worries. His ideal family would be committed to his ongoing training, giving him the space and guidance to feel secure in his forever home. As Milo has shown resource guarding behaviours he is looking for a family who are comfortable and confident in managing this within the home. Milo is looking for a home where he is the only dog, he is friendly towards other dogs but can be intense with them so will need a family willing to continue his dog social skills out and about. He is looking for a home where any children are of upper secondary school ages and above who are sensible, knowing to give him space when needed. Milo would love a family where someone is around most of the time to begin with whilst he adjusts to life in his new home. Milo finds going to the vets worrying so will need a family who are comfortable taking this slowly and working on his training around this.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Manchester in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Manchester handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Manchester will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Manchester early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
