Adopt Milo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Milo is a beautiful Swiss herder of 4 years young. And this darling is looking for a master! A master who knows what the breed entails. He is a darling who hasn't had the right guidance and as a result, his outburst behavior has increased (outbursts towards people and dogs on a leash). Milo can be good with other dogs and enjoys playing. With the right master, this is surely in good hands. However, we do not see this behavior here, but of course, this is not a home situation. Children and other animals are not a match for Milo. Who can offer this darling a nice home? For more information, contact via email and fill in the following questionnaire: – What are your address/contact details (please include postcode and telephone number)? – How much time would the dog be left alone at home (e.g., in relation to work, now and in the future)? – What is your family composition (couple, children, single)? – What kind of accommodation do you have (semi-detached, 2-in-1, garden etc)? – Do you have any other pets? – Do you have experience with dogs? – Would you go to classes with the dog? – What else would you like to tell us about your situation/positive points/interesting things for us to know about you? If the questions are not filled in, we cannot process the email. Stichting Dierenopvang Hengelo Zilverstraat 30 7554 NH Hengelo 46.75.18.812 RSIN:

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dierenopvang Hengelo in Hengelo.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Hengelo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Hengelo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Hengelo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
