Adopt Milo

Yorkshire Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

We had an owner, but they brought us here. Our parents were kept by our partner for one reason, so that we could have puppies to sell. My sibling and I remained with them. Nobody wanted us. We didn't have chips. My sibling and I are a bit shy. We love people, but it takes some time for us to relax. We lived with our parents, who are also here. We cannot walk on a leash. More information about us will follow later. Milo was previously a pet, but unfortunately was not considered family. The parents were kept only so that puppies could be born, which could be sold. In the end, my sibling and I "stayed behind," nobody wanted us. There was no chip in him. Milo is a more sensitive dog; he needs time to open up and build trust. Initially, he tends to withdraw from strangers, so it's recommended to have several visits to get to know him. He cannot yet walk on a leash, so we are looking for a patient and understanding owner who can help him experience real safety and love.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a young adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Mogyoró Menedék Szentes in Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mogyoró Menedék Szentes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mogyoró Menedék Szentes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mogyoró Menedék Szentes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
