Adopt Milton

Male · Adult · 4 years

Cute, cheerful, affectionate! Do not be deceived by this - Milton is a dog who, besides a wonderfully soft coat, a joyful character and a great need to snuggle with a person, also has a strong character and tendencies to control the environment. When he came to the animal shelter, he seemed to us like the perfect dog - composed, stable, beautifully walking on a leash, absolutely in love with people. He quickly found a home. Unfortunately, after adoption, it turned out that Milton strongly stressed in the city, where he does not cope with the cramped space, the multitude of stimuli, dogs coming from every corner... He completely changes in a quiet area, on a forest or mountain trip, where he nicely traveled by car. The previous owners were not able to, despite the huge work they did, provide Milton with conditions in which he could relax, rest and be himself. However, thanks to his short stay on the couch, we know that Milton is a wonderful house dog - clean and calm, not destroying anything, easily staying home alone. We thus have such a beautiful creature - a controller of the district and all its residents as well as a loving, affectionate lion of the living room. And we are looking for an unusual caregiver for this unusual dog! A caregiver-guide who has experience in caring for dogs and who will set the limits for Milton from the beginning. The future home should provide him access to quiet green areas, where Milton is the happiest. It can be a house with a garden or an apartment in a block near the forest, meadows, fields. It can be a home of travelers who love nature, because Milton loves trips, for example, to the mountains. At this moment, it should be a home without children and cats, but very valuable for Milton may be the company of another, larger dog. About Milton

What life with Milton looks like

Milton is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Severe stress in urban environments, needs quiet rural/natural settings

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
