adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Minerva has found her people! Her story: Make way, here comes Minerva! However, Minerva did not have a pretty past, as shown by her large scar on the nose and her broken rib, which has since been operated on. Found trembling from cold and hunger all alone, she was ignored by us humans and chased by the big dogs. Survival and the struggle for food were anything but easy for the little Minerva. That's why the little female dog is especially happy to finally be in a safe place waiting for her perfect match! Despite everything Minerva has gone through, there is an incredible amount of joy in her. Sometimes she still has a bit of fear, especially when a situation is unfamiliar or new. But once her trust is won, Minerva stands faithfully by her person and enjoys attention. She loves chasing her toy and being cuddled. She also gets along well with other dogs and cats. With her weight at 6 kg, Minerva is more on the smaller side. However, Minerva is looking for people who don't expect anything from her and give her time to settle in. How a family functions, Minerva will likely have to learn first. Therefore, she shouldn't be too strict with her at the beginning and be able to forgive her one or two mishaps. A visit to a positively working dog training class can also help Minerva to better adapt to her new life. Minerva travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive review. Who has fallen in love with the sweet female dog and still has a warm dog bed available? Many thanks to Isolde K.! You have given Minerva her awesome name. Status: 22.01.

Vielen Dank an Isolde K.! Du hast Minerva ihren tollen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 22.01.2025

About Minerva

What life with Minerva looks like

Minerva is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minerva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minerva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minerva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minerva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Minerva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minerva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minerva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
