After about six and a half years with his family, he now reluctantly seeks a new home. Daily life with the young children who have joined the family over the past few years has become increasingly stressful for this sensitive male dog. Therefore, he is looking for a calmer environment where he can find peace again and feel safe. Mino is an intelligent and sensitive dog who initially approaches new situations with caution. He needs some time to build trust. However, once he has grown fond of his people, he proves to be extremely loyal, affectionate, and closely bonded to them. We are looking for a child-free home with experienced dog owners who can provide him with security, clear routines, and patience. People who understand his body language and offer him guidance in uncertain situations will find in him a faithful companion. With other dogs, Mino can live well together after a suitable introduction period. Walks are one of his great passions—especially sniffing and search games in the forest or fields bring him great joy. He masters the most important basic commands, walks well on leash, and can be reliably led off-leash in appropriate environments. Staying alone for a few hours is no problem for Mino. He is familiar with car rides in urban and rural traffic, but longer journeys on the highway make him feel stressed. Currently, Mino’s health is unremarkable. He tested positive for Hepatozoonosis, but so far shows no symptoms at all. About Mino

What life with Mino looks like

Mino is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. in Eutin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
